About Me
I’m Ron Chipman, I’ve been working in the craft of pottery since 2008, that’s quite a while. Working out of a small studio in my home, this hobby has pushed itself along and allowed me to be creative and affect the lives of more people than I’ve ever imagined. I’ve learned a thing or two about pottery in those 18 years.
What I love about the art of pottery
Pottery has a uniquely organic element to it. Working from end to end, from how a piece feels in your hands to how they function on the table brings a personal connection to every mug and bowl. The other aspect I love about this craft is the functionality of it. It is artistic, but it’s also meant to be used daily and admired at the same time. In many ways it’s meant to be loved.

About The Potter
Ron was introduced to Pottery in 2001 during a community education class, where he found that he struggled less than most, which ignited a love for muddy hands and red hot kilns. Not being able to capitalize on the experience at that time and Ron having that experience on his mind had to wait until 2008 before he was able to find the right avenue to pursue what would become “Chipman Studio”.
The first thing that Ron had to do was find an Instructor. So early in 2008 he found a retired high school art teacher that had a pottery studio in his basement that was willing to let him rent studio time. So in two hour increments, twice a week Ron started his journey.
Timpanogos Story Telling Festival (TSTF) at the pottery venue, Movie props for some of the local movie industry studios, Colonial Heritage Festival (CHF), Lots of demonstrations in educational settings, talking about ceramics in our colonial history, with the most recent being down in Southern Utah at Liberty Village.
So Ron has spent the last 17 years perfecting his craft and putting together a small studio that brings all of his creations to life.
